I'm coming to the US for the first time on H1B. Do I need a one way or a return ticket? My travel agent told me that since I have a multiple entry visa (expiring on Oct 2011) a return ticket is not required unless I need to travel back home within one year. Could someone with knowledge about this issue help me out. I would really appreciate a reply from someone who recently landed in the US on H1B.

Ticket does not matter if you are on H1B - one way should be fine.

To answer your second question, yes, the employer can revoke your I-140 petition which could result in denial of I-485 application. You are only covered under AC21 if your I-485 has been pending for more than 180 days as the previous poster suggested.

The pamphlet covers the visa process, important documents, workplace and employee rights, human trafficking, and how to file a complaint. This is a very useful document, not just for immigrants. May I ask you a quick question -

Is Employer required, by law, for H-1B fling for qualified job applicant? My understanding is that it is upto the employer whether to file any visa sponsorship (including H-1B) for applicant. And its' employer's choice to put "No visa sponsorship" in the job advertisement.

one lawyer whom I spoke with says it is still ok...basically they need senior applicants in their field who has done some supervisory work and can do managirial work..I don't know how much it is true.

EAD has nothing to do with your status. But yes, your status is OK as long as you have a pending 485 application.
Yes. You can use your EAD and work for any company.
No issues even if you are not working for some time.
You are authorized to work for any company parttime or fulltime.

Hi,
I am working in company 'A' on H1B, Green card is processing from company 'B' as future employee. Got EAD.

The job is getting over from Company 'A'.
Can I use my EAD and can stay in US with out working to any company?
Will there be any issues if TAX is not paid when I am not working.
If i work part time then on do I need to work for company 'B' only?

I was in a similar situation as you and had to use this firm. H1B filing experience was fine but the entire GC process and filing was not a good experience at all. There were days I had to call the paralegal and teach him the new immigration laws and that's never a good sign ! Because of their mistake I was stuck in Eb3 rather being in Eb2. May be they will deal differently with your case but have a chat with them and your company managers before you agree to use them. I m with another company and another attorney firm and they are awesome !

Me and spouse got the "Card production ordered" and "Welcome notice" emails today morning.

Here is the journey:

Nov.2002 - RIR Labor filed in CA
June 2006 - Labor approved from Phily BEC
July 2006 - I-485 , I-140 filed at TSC
Sept.2006 - I-140 approved
Got stuck in namecheck ( name check may be still pending )
May 20, 2008 - RFE received for missing TB Skin test ( doctor screwed up)
June 4, 2008 - Responded to RFE
June 16, 2008 - Green card approved
Now, waiting for the actual card to arrive.
