I did not see any updates on my I140 but just the update on my already approved H1b case.
If my employer has decided to revoke my I140, would i be able to find out , incase he doesn't inform me?

Should it be the date you last received a valid I-94 at the POE or the date you entered from canada or mexico using AR?

With a priority date of July 2006, you are looking at another four to five years before you get your GC barring any changes in current laws and available visa. Many people advise that you maintain your H1 during the wait just to have a fallback position in case your 485 is denied.
So my status doesnt change until my I 485 is approved- any idea how long that will take? My H 1B expires in Nov of 2007 should I get an extension? Thank you for your replies- Lisa

Part 6 , Processing Information On Page8 of I-765 Instructions states =>
"Interim EAD. If you have not received a decision within90 days of receipt by USCIS of a properly filed EADapplication or within 30 days of a properly filed initial EADapplication based on an asylum application filed on or afterJanuary 4, 1995, you may obtain interim work authorization byappearing in person at your local USCIS district office. Youmust bring proof of identity and any notices that you havereceived from USCIS in connection with your application foremployment authorization."
Notice that Interim EAD is for ASYLUM Applicants.

We have had several wonderful members who have joined the chapter already. We are forming local networks in Nashville, Memphis and Knoxville so that it's easier for all TN members to participate in the chapter activities. Coordination of the activities will be done through the Yahoo group.
I'll be coordinating activities in Nashville area. So if you are from Nashville or surburbs, feel free to PM me.
Mahatma has kindly agreed to coordinate the activities in Knoxville area. If you are in Knoxville or surrounding areas PM him, he'll help us get organized. Members like him who already have their GCs and helping our cause is a real insiration to the rest of us.
We are in the process of setting up a network in Memphis too. Don't worry Memphiseans, you are in our radar :). PM me your details and I'll help you folks get organized. We already have some enthusiatic volunteers ready to work with in building local networks.
IV TN is not all Immigration. We are building strong network of likeminded persons. It will not only help us work with IV to solve our GC problem, but also spin off into future opportunities from the development of these network.
All in all, I really feel blessed to be working with this group of motivated volunteers.

I though there is already an option where you could apply in PERM requesting transfer of the non-perm application to PERM (as against a new PERM application). That way you can keep the old PD.

Non-compete is based on a state law. Consult a Virginia employment attorney. Generally non-compete doesn't have teeth, because every one has got a right to work and practice your profession/make living.
Everyone has got right to work and practice their profession/make living, but not with the end client written in the contract, within the given period of time. Surely thats not life long, but there must be a period for 6 months, 12 months etc.

Its been more than two months I applied for my H1B visa extension, it got approved and I received I-797 also but online status still show 'Application Received and Pending'.
Now I applied for Advance Parole and EAD, they have deposited the fee checks also but don't see any change in last updated date for AOS application... I wonder if they update status at all....

Many of us came here because an American University admitted us and sent us invitation (aka I20) to attend the program and many are working here because american companies invited us and sponsored our work documents and pays us very well at par with other knowledge workers. The company and industry we work in, needs our skills (even in this recession) and that's why we are here.
Believe me, most of us won't let GC situation drive our lives and will succeed no matter where we will be and will make sure to be helpful and grateful to all people and the country we are in. May be it's India or US or Canada or else ...

My 6th year h1b is expiring on April 30, 2008. I applied labor through PERM on October 1, 2007. How to stay legal in this country until approval of 140. Converting to F1 or B2 will cause any problems to green card process. Please advice.

Take a five month vacation between now and Apr 30, 2008 and go back to you home country for five months.. Then get you H1 extended for Five month after Apr 30, 2008 till Oct1, 2007. Then apply for extension on Oct 1, 2007. I think this might work. Check with your Attorney.

I understand the 10-day rule, but when does the clock start?
The date of lease starting or the date of actual move.....ideally these shouldnt be too far apart, but in my case they will be, hence the confusion.

As per my understanding 10 days is from the time you change your permanent address. Due to lease constraint I also had two apartments at same time. I filled online AR-11 within 10 days after I moved to new apartment.

Let me qualify by stating I don't have a D40x. There are a bunch of things you can do, depending on the specific problem. However, if you can set the autofocus points, then set the center point as the default. That way the camera will only focus on what's dead center in the lens.
You also need an aperature that will give enough depth of field. You don't necessarily need the whole shot in focus, just the right part of the shot. The exact aperature is going to depend on the size of lens you use. A telephoto will require a higher aperature than a wide angle lens to get more depth of field. There are DOF charts available on the internet. The aperature you use will also depend on whether you are using a flash. Also, are you sure it's a focus issue and not a motion issue. A bounce flash may not be the best way to stop action of a young'n.
It's really hard to diagnoze without specific examples but maybe this gets you started. I'm sure others will contribute as well.

I'm the first one to have the GC processed in my company. The process was started sometime in Dec 2006 and most likely my attorney would file PERM Labor in this week. Will USCIS consider auditing in my case as I'm the first one in my company? Any ideas? The company is like 2-3 years old. Please let me know your thoughts.

You are merely a beneficiary of 140 application, the petitioner is your GC sponsoring company - only the company or representative has the authority to make inquiries. First step, you should ask your attorney or company to call USCIS and mention that your 140 is outside processing time and also you had responded to an RFE , it has passed standard response/decision time (usually 60 days) - ask the CSR to open an SR. For the most cases that I know, this has triggered a decision with in 45 days from the date of SR. Hope this helps.

I got exact query.
All you need is Affidavits from you Father, Mother and any other close relative. Ask them to go to your local court house. There will be people sitting there who do prepare affidavits and notarize them. They need to do it on 10 Rupees stamp paper and get it notarized. They shall have the date of birth affidavit template at court house.
Once they have them, ask them to scan and send them to you to save time. Also ask them to DHL the originals so that you could recieve in 2 or 3days.
