I received a phone call (WOW!) from a sweet lady from CIS Ombudsman's office. I sent letters to his office and in the letter I mentioned my cell #. Anyway she wants a real person who got deniel. I told her that my friend got deniel (IVens are my fried). Anyway, she sent an email too after I asked her to give her info so that my friend can send her his case details. Unfortunately, the email I received shortly after the conversation, looks like general and does not have her ID. Please PM me if you like to hear more about the phone call.

can some of you guys pm me Lou Dobbs-related issues? i'm trying to make a blog entirely focus on Lou Dobbs lies. thanks.
Can we all take a month from his list of trancscripts and read through his transcripts and see which one has the H1B mistatement. I think he said this sometime in 2005 or 2006 we only need 24 participants.
It is very important that we have all Lou Dobbs resources handy in one thread. I blog his LIES and need this info very quickly before the blog closes. Please contribute to this effort. Thanks!
Please note that we need to collect facts (with URL) rather then IV member opinions!

Multiple-Year Single EAD-AP Card Reportedly Limited to Visa Regrogression 485 Filers
Some more details have been released on Mr. Aytes' statement on this plan. Reportedly, such multiple year card may be issued only to those who suffer the visa number retrogression. In other words, those 485 filers who will experience delays in 485 applications who do not suffer from the visa number retrogression but from the USCIS delays including namechecks are not likely to benefit from the upcoming multi-year card issuance.

Is this correct ....
We did further research and found out that, Vonage considers more than 5,000 minutes per line per month for unlimited residential calling and more than 10,000 minutes per line per month for unlimited small business calling is not to be considered normal use. That means the moment you run over 5000 minutes (Vonage World Plan is residential plan), Vonage will cut you off.
Lets do some calculations for calling India. You pay $25 a month and you will get 5000 minutes per month of calling. $25/5000 minutes means 0.5 cents per minutes which is really cheap.
Free VOIP Solution Free calls Worldwide (http://voipguides.blogspot.com/)
Along with free india callling you also have the basic feature of calling unlimited in US for 24.99. Which looks pretty good to me. I already have a vonage service for 24.99 and it was a free upgrade to this new plan(after i called the customer service rep) and still i am paying the same 24.99 which is good.

I agree with you 100%
I understand. For an analogy consider theft. You might not know who did it but you lodge a complaint with the police. Its their job to investigate. Sometimes they are successful, sometimes they are not.
In this case if the govt gets lot of complaints, and find a pattern they will investigate and find the dirt.
All I and a few others are saying, discriminating EADs is illegal, and there is a govt. agency to deal with these things. So, if anybody is a victim contact the govt. agency. By being quite we are not helping ourselves.

I am in EB3 and I have no intention to port my PD to EB2.I strongly believe we are in the last fag of the problem.
Why do you want to spoil others chances?- Are you scared or what?
This shows another example why we are not united.
If DOL had only cleared those poor old needed filers without opening a backlog ,EB3 woudn't have become a laughing stock by you fellows. There was not much big difference between EB2 and EB3 earlier years before.
That was the reason most of us agreed when we filed under EB3.
If they hadnt wasted the visas -EB3 and EB2 should have diff of 2 years only.
Thats the reason why EB3 is mad now.
Whatever - People supporting this cause are mere selfish.
If the EB3 guy wants to port to EB2 whats yr problem -
Already EB2 is flooded with applications -Most of them know what is happening and people want only EB2 status.Thankfully there are real IV members who are against this.
There are more exerienced and qualified EB3 people than me too.Dont spoil others future.
Lol! down this act and get rid of the attitude. There is no success in such selfish decisions.
Like how you need GC everyone needs GC to stay in this country.
you have no right to bring distress to another person's life.
Infact your are motivating EB3 to move to EB2 .
Thankyou.

Another reason the companies give nowadays is "Unfortunately it is a government project and we cannot accept EAD status" - am baffled as to why they are OK with Green card and not EAD.

I think you need to send an email via vonage account to refer someone and the system automatically gives your account a credit when the other person signs up. Dont know if you can give a phone # and say that MR ABC should get the benefit of 'refer a friend'
I thing you can sign-up by entering phone number from following page Vonage Refer-A-Friend Program (http://www.vonage.com/lp/US/friend/)
I did like that today morning but not received any email confirmation yet and showing pending when login online.

Guys... I am all to do anything for GC, that itself is big thing..
Anybody in this thread who support this idea and was here since 1998
pls come forward...
Then you really know , what it is about...
Upto GC, it is fine to do any movement/lead..perfectly acceptable.
But do not waste energy and aggressivness on citizenship related things. It rather damages the effort, just by adding citizenship related things.
It is as equal as what happened in the past, that adding illegal and legal based reform in teh single capsule blowed out everything and no benefit came out finally.
Now
i am asking you guys in this thread...
who support this idea and was here since 1998 or atleast from 2000
(Pls note you shd have started your GC process on or before 2000. Then you know the things.
If you came in 1998 and started GC just 1 or 2 years back..You may not be knowing the reality.)
pls come forward...
I am not questioning or discouraging your intentions/enthu/aggressiveness...
I am asking not to waste the energy on useless things.
Pls concentrate on GC related things which will benefit everybody.
People laugh for the resolutions you suggested , if they can be proposed to any legislative member.

Hmmm - not sure because, if the job requires that someone must have security clearance - the job must clearly mention that someone with security clearance is needed. What is the point in hiring a citizen without security clearance (unless they want you to get clearance aftewr hiring)
Non discriminatory postings look like this
(1) Authorized to work in US for any employer
(2) Requires a security clearance
One cannot specifically say - I don't want EAD or GC or I want only Citizens.
Desi3933 and other knowledgeable folks out here - please write your comments. I hope I am not wrong.
There are 3 kind of jobs -
1. Jobs that require active security clearance - this kind of job is only limited to US citizen that have security clearance of that level. Yes, tehre are different levels in security clearance as well.
2. Jobs that will be in unit where everyone must be US citizen. These kind of jobs can be filled by US citizen without the need of any security clearance.
3. Jobs that are open for everyone - One must have active work authorization.
The vast majority of the jobs are of type #3. In any case, if job requires US citizen, the hiring place must be able to answer why that job is restricted to US citizens only.

Mamit: Take a deeeeeeeeep breath! Good for you that you are dealing with this right at the start of your career. Get all the bad stuff out upfront. I have a family and life to take care of in the US and I am stuck in this crap since Jan 7th. It is extremely hard and frustrating - but there is simply nothing that you can do about it right now. So, relax and wait it out.
The PIMS stuff is all messed up and iff you have a common name, your lottery for "Security Clearance" may have come. That would significantly add time to it. If this is your first stamping - the chances of rigorous checking is higher - although that is not always the case.
It is easier said than done - but seriously, let the life take its own course, this too shall pass and soon!
Good Luck and cheer up!
Calabor2001, thanks for the moral support and I am sorry to learn about your situation too which, like mine, seems to have become quite an ordeal.
I did post a question on the other thread today about the Advance Parole (AP). Did you know about it when you left for Delhi? To be honest, I didn't. In fact, for two months I wasn't even going online to research about why I was stuck here, and was hoping my visa was just around the corners. I have posted a question on that thread asking if it was possible to obtain an AP while in India. If it is possible then I can go to Delhi, get my unstamped passport (they did say I could do that when I interviewed with them), and go to US. And when my security clearance is done, all I will have to do is fedex it to VFS in delhi. Let me know if you have any idea about this stuff.

CNN Shifts Slot for Dobbs (http://www.nytimes.com/2007/10/16/arts/television/16arts-CNNSHIFTSSLO_BRF.html) By BRIAN STELTER | New York Times, October 16, 2007
CNN will move Lou Dobbs Tonight to 7 p.m. from 6 p.m. and introduce a three-hour block of the late-afternoon show The Situation Room next month, the network said yesterday. The unusual decision to move Mr. Dobbs the host of CNNs second-most-popular hour is intended to bolster the perennially low-rated 8 p.m. hour recently vacated by Paula Zahn. The former NBC anchor Campbell Brown is scheduled to be the host of a new 8 p.m. program starting in February. The move will put Campbells new show in between our two highest-rated programs, said Jon Klein, the president of CNN/U.S. The only program with more viewers than Lou Dobbs Tonight is Larry King Live at 9 p.m. The Situation Room will be broadcast from 4 to 7 p.m. In the schedule shuffle, CNN risks losing the loyal audience for Mr. Dobbss passionate coverage of immigration, outsourcing and politics. Mr. Klein said Mr. Dobbs and Wolf Blitzer would repeatedly promote the changes ahead of the Nov. 5 move.

Also, does anyone remember where the I-485 was mailed? NSC or TSC? From what I remember it was based on what state you lived in when I-485 was filed.
It was NSC for New York residents... Can someone confirm that please.
Yes, it was based on the State you lived. One other thing, you may want to check with Customer Service, since when are you have been actually considered a PR. If they have considered you as a PR since 2008, it is good for you, you will be able to apply for Citizenship sooner

Total BS. Do you know how the market is. We have 2 open positions (dot net developers) that I am trying to fill up. We have got over 200 resumes in less than a week.
So many consulting companies are offering H1-B resources at 40 to 50 dollars per hour.
Wake up and smell the coffee.

The Rep Tom Tancredo a vociferous anti-immigrant both legal and illegal. The very fact that Lou Dobbs allowed his show as a mouthpiece to propagate incorrect information "about H1-Bs being illegal" is worthy of a lawsuit.
How about a petition to the CEO of Time Warner asking Lou to apologize ?
I was Just watching CNN and was reporting a part of Lou Dobbs episode,
Tom Tancredo saying people overstay on H-1B after its "5 year" Expiration.
I think he do not even have a clue about H-1 B programme.
